Founded in 1996, The Centre For Voice has provided outstanding voice training for singers from all genres of music, professional and amateur, young and experienced. The Centre For Voice is founded on the principle that the best training possible should be accessible to everyone who wants to take classes and that the student lies at the centre of the experience; everyone learns differently and Centre For Voice trainers work with individuals to achieve the best results. Modern voice training is focused on a thorough knowledge of the physiology of the vocal instrument and its effect on sound production. At the Centre For Voice, this knowledge is combined with a broad experience of using the teaching practises and skills which have historically instructed singers to accomplish mastery of their voices. We embrace different teaching techniques for different genres of music. Originating in Bristol, the Centre For Voice is currently rolling out new centres across the UK as part of our membership scheme. Our teaching staff: Our voice tutors are all experts in their field and work within the acclaimed Centre For Voice framework developed by founder Andrew Hambly-Smith. All training is directed towards the client's needs. The Centre for Voice Bristol is situated in the Berkeley Centre, Berkeley Square at the top of Park Street, in the heart of the city. With eight tutors on staff we are able to accommodate a large number of singers from all backgrounds and experience. Centre For Voice founder Andrew Hambly-Smith is based at the Bristol centre: In 1995 Andrew founded The Centre for Voice and subsequently The Bristol Academy of Performing Arts - the prestigious residential performing arts school now based at the Academy Theatre, Shepton Mallet. Andrew trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London and in Berlin. He performed throughout the major European centres in opera and concert works before taking the role of the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. In 1992 he co-created and presented a television series about opera for the German television company ARD. His considerable experience in performing across different genres of music and teaching different techniques to suit the individual is the bedrock of the Centre for Voice practice. Andrew founded Voice Business in 1998 and is one of the most successful private and public sector consultants in his field. His unique approach to developing peoples impact, voice and presentation skills has taken him all over the UK and abroad. His recent client include the Prime Ministers Delivery Unit, the Prime ministers Strategic Unit, Cabinet Office, MOD, SOCA, Universities UK, Bond Pearce Solicitors, Lloyds TSB, GHK, Genworth Financial and the Audit Commission.
